Indigo Class

Welcome to Indigo Class's page! We are a year 3/4 class with 26 pupils altogether. Our class teacher is Miss Hollick and we are supported by our HLTA Miss Greenwood.

If you are a Year 3/4 parent/carer and missed our meet the teacher meeting, please find the slides here.

In this half term, up until Christmas, we will be studying the topic of invaders. We will focus on the Romans and then transition into the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. As our hook, we will be visited by a Roman soldier and we will explore who they are and the importance they have had on our life today.

Core Subjects

English: After studying grammatical skills at the start of the new school year, we will begin to explore and write a diary from the perspective of a Roman soldier.

Maths: This half term, in my maths group, we will be looking at place value to 10,000. We will focus on our times tables every week on the lead up to the times tables test in Year 4.

Science: We will be focusing on electricity. The children will conduct a series of circuits and identify parts of the circuit. We will also look at conductors and insulators.

Foundation subjects

DT and Art: In DT, the children will be learning different stitches as part of sewing skills and this will lead to them creating their own Roman purse (bulla).

Music: In Music we will be exploring South African music through the song 'Hands, Feet, Heart'. They will find the pulse and rhythm whilst also learning the notes on a glockenspiel.

French: In French, the Year 3 children will be learning new vocabulary. They will focus on who they are, colours and family.

PSHE: Will will discuss the Zones of Regulation and how to manage our emotions whilst also discussing how we can stay safe and manage risk.

Computing: In Computing, we will be learning how to use a laptop, log on and use google classrooms and explore internet safety.

Religion and World Views: In RE, the Year 3 children will be focusing on what Christians believe about having a good life and the Christian faith.
