Stuart Ward, Chair, Co-opted Governor

Email: stuart.ward@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

I have been privileged to be a governor at Rothwell Victoria for over 1 years and am the current Chair of Governors.

My role as General Manager of a hotel has equipped me with many skills required to assist the school in a variety of ways.

I was initially elected as a Parent Governor and attended all Governor meetings at the school and numerous Governor courses and Conferences to improve my effectiveness in the role. In 2008 I took up the position of Chair of Governors.

I am an active member of the Governing Body and regularly visit the school. I work closely with other Governors, Staff and the Headteacher to ensure that the strategic direction of the school enables all children to excel. I take an active interest in all aspect of the school life and this is an invaluable and rewarding experience.

My motivations for being a Governor remain the same as ever: to contribute my skills, experience and time to support schools and school leaders in doing the very best job they can for our community, and our children

Amanda Burrow, Headteacher

Email: amanda.burrow@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

I entered the teaching profession in 1992 and became Deputy Headteacher at Rothwell Victoria in 2001. I am now proud to be the Headteacher of a school which I feel so passionate about.

As a teacher and a leader, I have always believed that collaboration and cooperation are fundamental principles of how we can all learn and grow together to be the best that we can be. I want to ensure our pupils have the skills and character to enable them to make a smooth transition to the next phase of their education and to recognise that if they aim high and work hard they can succeed and can achieve their dreams.

I have served on the Governing Body at Rothwell Victoria for 16 years and have also been a Parent Governor of a large high school.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, keeping fit and eating out!

Nicola Hudson, Parent Governor, Pupil Premium, CLA

Email: nicola.hudson@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

My name is Nicola Hudson and I am a Parent Governor, although my children have recently left Rothwell Victoria. I have had a relationship with the school for some years and am keen to give something back in terms of my time and experience.

I am also a Foster Carer and therefore have a keen interest in how the school caters for looked after children, with two of the three children in my care currently attending the school.

In my professional career, I work full time for Calderdale College and manage a project that engages employers in training for their staff. My professional background is very much focussed on skills and training having previously been an Investors in People Advisor and an Employee Development Advisor. I hope to be able to share the knowledge and skills that I have with the school to support its continued development.

Rachel Ferraby, Co-opted Governor, Child Protection

Email: rachel.ferraby@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

My name is Rachel Ferraby and I am a co-opted Governor. I am married to Richard and both of our children attended Rothwell Victoria but have now moved to a local high school. When time allows, I enjoy reading, art, travelling and visiting historical places. I was lucky enough to have fantastic school experiences throughout my life, and am committed to our education system and promoting opportunities for all children.

I joined the Governing board at Rothwell Victoria in December 2016, having previously served as a Governor at Haigh Road.  I am happy to transfer the skills I learnt there to support and challenge Rothwell Victoria in ensuring that all of the children have the best possible education and, therefore, the best chances in life.

I have been appointed as Governor in charge of Safeguarding, which means that I am involved in ensuring that all children are safe and happy in school and that the school has the policies, procedures and understanding in place to make this happen. I am proud to be serve on an excellent governing board with team of dedicated teachers who have played a significant role in ensuring that Rothwell Victoria continues to improve the outcomes for all pupils.

In my professional career, I am a Y5 teacher at Middleton St. Mary’s Primary School, where I have worked for more years than I care to remember! This means that I bring to my governor role an understanding of the education system and all of the trials and tribulations that this ensues! I hope to be able to share my knowledge and skills to support the school with its continued development.

Vicki Broadhurst, Co-opted Governor

Email: vicki.broadhurst@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

It is a great privilege to be able to join the governors at Rothwell Victoria. I actually attended the school back in the 1980’s and have incredibly fond memories of my time there and want the children to feel safe, secure and grow while at the school. I was previously a governor at a higher education college, a role which I really enjoyed, and  feel I can bring a different perspective to what is already a strong and diverse governing body.

I work for PwC, a large professional services firm within their HR function, working closely with our board sponsor for people, and lead a team who drive our culture, values, behaviours and engagement. I have been at PwC for 23 years in a number of HR roles and want to be able to use my experience to support the school. I was the first in my family to attend university which was something I loved, and want every child to be the best person they can be, and to know they can dream big.

I live in Birmingham, but travel to Rothwell regularly to visit family and friends. Outside of work I enjoy travelling, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Faresh Maisuria, Parent Governor

email: faresh.maisuria@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk

My name is Faresh Maisuria and I am a Parent Governor. I have a child currently at the school, and another possibly in the not too distant future.  Like all parents, I have a keen interest in ensuring our children have a fantastic school experience in a secure setting. Hopefully, I can add a voice as a parent to the governing body.

In my professional career, I work at Blueberry Marketing, an agency in Leeds which supports Public & Private Sector bodies across the UK. In my time here, over 15 employees have left to run their own businesses however big or small and I think as an employer or in a school setting you should do your upmost to enable people to grow. I’m really interested in development of people, values and culture and want children to enjoy their school and be the best self that they can be. These early years are formative; therefore I will try my best to support the teachers, parents, and children in their development.

In my spare time I love football, boxing and spending time with my friends and family.

I started teaching in 2006 in a large primary school in Inner-London after graduating from Brunel University. My career-to-date has allowed me to work in three primary schools in different parts of the country and I have had the opportunity to lead in a range of different subjects.

I join the governing body as an associate governor due to my position as Deputy Headteacher and have since become staff governor.
